Bachelor of Science in Birth-Kindergarten Program: Early Childhood Concentration
Overview
WCU’s Bachelor of Science in Birth-Kindergarten program also offers a non-licensure option, the Early Childhood Concentration in birth kindergarten education, to individuals in North Carolina by providing a distance learning option for students in rural regions. The instructional delivery system includes courses taught entirely online. The program will be ongoing with two admission deadlines throughout the year and fall and spring semester "start" dates. The 63 semester hour Early Childhood Concentration program may be completed in seven to nine semesters (2 years) depending on the number of semester hours a student takes per year. Students may choose to attend part-time or full-time depending on their needs, as well as specific degree requirements and the course offerings.
The courses you take in the online major are the same courses offered by the on-campus birth-kindergarten program and are designed and taught by the regular faculty. You will interact extensively with classmates by participating in discussion forums with other students, many of whom are working professionals. Writing is an important component of this program and instructors will provide you with personal feedback concerning content and writing skills. Additionally, online tutoring is available at no cost to provide you assistance in strengthening writing skills and the acquisition of academic content.
Your coursework will be entirely online. Through an active learning management system, you will benefit from an online support network that will give you the opportunity to collaborate with other early childhood professionals in the field.
