UNC Wilmington

At the University of North Carolina Wilmington, passionate and engaged teaching, learning and research matter. UNCW is unique in its dedication to combining a small-college commitment to excellence in teaching with a research university's opportunities for student involvement in significant faculty scholarship.

The university maintains an intimate learning environment for undergraduates, integrating teaching and mentoring with research and service. It promotes and engages in high-quality scholarship, master's-focused graduate education and selected doctoral programs. Our attractive and secure campus encourages intellectual and cultural diversity, fosters regional engagement and values individual growth and development.

UNCW began as Wilmington College in 1947 with 238 students, many of whom were veterans returning from military service following World War II. Today, more than 13,000 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students experience the university's unique blend of teaching, research and service learning opportunities, a mix of classical and innovative approaches that creates powerful learning experiences which give our graduates a competitive advantage in today's marketplace.

Prestigious rankings by U.S. News & World Report, Forbes, Fiske Guide to Colleges, Kiplinger's, Princeton Review, G.I. Jobs and others reflect the quality of experience our students receive.

The university offers a wide array of online courses in the arts, sciences, social sciences, education and business. The School of Nursing delivers the RN to B.S. option in nursing totally online. In response to demand from the pharmaceutical product testing industry, the School of Nursing developed the state's first bachelor's degree in clinical research, which is also offered online. Designed for the highly motivated student, both on- and off-campus, online courses are expected to increase in the future. To learn more, visit our website.
