The Office of Distance Learning administers several credit-bearing opportunities for North Carolinians to enhance their education. These opportunities include credit courses provided by Winston-Salem State University faculty to students who are place- or time-bound and cannot take advantage of on-campus offerings. Delivery methods include online programs and traditional face-to-face programs with faculty-led classes at remote sites, videotape, cable television, technology-assisted instruction including use of the Internet and interactive telecommunications, and other media. While technologies are used to provide instruction, instructional support, and student development services, Winston-Salem State University emphasizes customer service and responsiveness to the needs and concerns of all its students. Distance learners will have access to full-time faculty and staff committed to delivering these services.

Many of our distance education students have family, work, and other responsibilities that may not allow them to come to our campus regularly because of schedule, location, or time limitations. Most of your learning takes place at a place convenient for you—including your personal computer—although, depending on the program, you may be required occasionally to come to a location for an exam or laboratory exercise.
