Overview
Offered by the Department of Special Education and Child Development in the College of Education, this program consists of four graduate courses (12 credits) which meet state requirements for Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) add-on teacher licensure. The credits can also be applied to an on-campus M.Ed. in AIG.
Courses
SPED 5211: Nature and Needs of Gifted Students
SPED 6124: Methods of Instructing Gifted Students
SPED 6161: Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted Students
SPED 6224: Adapting Curriculum Materials and Classroom Differentiation
These online graduate-level courses are delivered using Wimba and Blackboard Vista.
To participate in this program, your computer must meet these Technical Specifications. Students using a high-speed internet connection (cable or DSL) report greatest satisfaction with courseware access.
Requirements
Teachers seeking an AIG add-on license must first hold a current North Carolina Standard Professional I license or the advanced “M” teaching license.
