Alternative Licensure ECU/NC TEACH
Overview
North Carolina Teachers of Excellence for All Children is an alternative teacher preparation program designed to recruit, train, support, and retain individuals as they become licensed teachers in NC.
Accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the East Carolina University College of Education is a leader in preparing teachers across the state via traditional and alternative routes to the classroom.
The ECU/NC TEACH program is offered online in all licensure areas except for special education, Birth through Kindergarten, and elementary. Individuals may become licensed middle or high school teachers in math, science, language arts, social studies, or business education or all grade level elective teachers in physical education, art, music, dance, theatre, and foreign language.
Individuals must have appropriate content background, qualify for the North Carolina lateral entry program, meet admission requirements, apply for graduate admission to this online program, and complete all licensure requirements. Other licensure requirements, including Praxis II testing and successful teaching, are required to clear the lateral entry license. Coursework is typically completed within one year of the start of the program. Qualified individuals may also complete the Master of Arts in Teaching online in select content areas.
