Alternative Licensure - NC TEACH II

University of North Carolina at Pembroke

Overview

NC TEACH (North Carolina Teachers of Excellence for All Children) is an alternative teacher preparation program for recent college graduates, mid-career professionals and retirees. The University of North Carolina at Pembroke was one of the original NC TEACH sites, established in 2000. NC TEACH II was established in 2006 as an extension of the original NC TEACH program. It offers stipends and/or laptop computers to qualified individuals who are selected to participate in the program and who commit to teaching in an indentified high-need North Carolina school district for a minimum of three years.

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP) has a long distinguished history of providing high quality education with the personal touch. The NC TEACH II Program at UNCP offers the convenience and flexibility of an online program as well as options for some face-to-face and blended courses. The School of Education has a user-friendly faculty that is accustomed to working with alternative licensure students.

As one of the original NC TEACH sites, UNCP is committed to alternative preparation programs. The School of Education also maintains strong collaborative partnerships with our regional LEAs. The UNCP School of Education is committed to preparing professional educators who are committed, collaborative, and competent. The NC TEACH II Program at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke prepares participants to teach in culturally diverse classrooms. UNC Pembroke is one of four universities hosting NC TEACH II for participants interested in teaching in high-need schools.
