Some Of Our Students Say....
I could not have been more pleased with this program. Everyone was helpful and professional. The content was pertinent and challenging. I found the discussion groups quite wonderful. The online discussions actually offered me more contact with fellow students than a classroom situation has in the past. I highly recommend the program to other registered nurses working towards their BSN.

ECU's master's program offered via distance learning courses literally changed my life. Being a single parent holding down two jobs, I never would have been able to earn my MA without the program. More importantly, I honestly believe I received a better education than I would have with face-to-face classes. Since most online "classroom" communication is done in writing, I was forced to read and thoroughly understand the material I was learning. After all, you can't bluff your way through written discussion the way you can in regular class discussions! The instructors were always available to assist me with any questions or problems I was having. Their creativity in presenting the material was impressive. Since graduating from the program, I've begun teaching at a local community college where I've been able to use everything I learned – including how to utilize online course materials.

I was just saying the other day to someone that I have really enjoyed the online courses. I have had no problems getting in touch with any of my professors when I need them. Emailing and BlackBoard have been great assets. I actually feel as though I am asking more questions and being more "vocal" than I would be in an actual classroom setting. For me the online classes have been essential. If I had to go to a classroom and sit for long periods of time and couldn't work full-time I would not be in the program. I have been telling people ever since I started that if they want to go back to school this is the way to do it. I am so glad I am getting my RN-BSN this way! It is so convenient!

Online courses are convenient for my hectic life. When I do not have to go to classes at a specific time, it gives me more time to do better work without rushing. Online classes give the student practice on being an independent worker. In the workforce, it is necessary to know how to manage several tasks and work with very little coaching.

I have taken 4 distance learning classes at ECSU. I find this form of learning to be convenient for me, because I live an hour away from the university, and I like working in the comfort of my home. I also enjoy the convenience of being able to log on at any point during the day or night, this enables me to study and chose a time when all is quiet, and I can concentrate. I am not your conventional student. I decided to return to college at the age of 43. I started out driving, and I did this for almost 2 years, through rain, snow, sleet, and hail. You can imagine my delight, when I found I did not have to get off work, drive to school, and concentrate well enough for the drive home.

I had never taken an online course until this year, and I wasn't sure how effective it would be. Class discussions in a chatroom? A professor hundreds of miles from many of his students? How would we all communicate? But so far, I've been pleased with the quality of instruction and online interaction between the students. We challenge and are challenged every day. Moreover, the program brings in a diversity of mature students whose work and family commitments keep them off campus.

The on-line RN/BSN Completion Program through The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has all the successful components busy RN's need to advance their nursing degree. I have been able to work full time, take care of a busy family and take classes at my convenience with a renowned faculty and staff guiding me every step of the way. I am able to attain my BSN from one of the nation's prestigious schools of nursing in the comfort of my own home with personalized attention day, night or even on weekends. The program's unique approach of using diverse methods of educational tools such as group on-line discussions, faculty audio presentations and Internet links to the campus Medical Sciences Library, kept it fresh and interesting while the tools helped my success. The program has used the best professionals on campus to meet the needs of their cyber students making them become a part of college life through Internet information on campus activities, research studies, and seminars. I would recommend this program to any RN who dreads driving to school at night or giving up their weekend trying to advance their degree. This program provides the busy RN the ease and flexibility they are looking for.

Admittedly, when I learned that the curriculum was offered entirely online, I was somewhat skeptical. But my doubts faded quickly, I couldn't believe the depth of course information or the accessibility of the faculty. The flexibility of the program not only allowed me to learn at my own pace and in my own way, but also worked around my schedule, giving me the time to also pursue an internship, gaining very useful hands-on experience. I came to the program a skeptic but will leave a believer.

I chose the BSET Electrical Distance Education program instead of a campus-based program because of the convenience it provides. I would not have been able to attend on-campus classes because of my work schedule and distance from the university. I am a senior citizen who re-entered the workforce after retirement from the postal service. While with the postal service, I worked with mail processing equipment and have always wanted to delve deeper into electronics. The DE program has provided me with the opportunity to do so. I am now employed with Underwriters Laboratories and I test new products for electrical and fire safety. My employer has been very supportive of my school work and frequently inquires about my progress.

The North Carolina Executive Master's Program provided a good overview of issues in medical leadership and management. A valuable aspect of the program was the use of case studies. These case studies of medical organizations improved our understanding and retention of conceptual material by allowing us to apply the concepts we learned to real organizations. In addition, the interaction with students from other medical fields and from civilian organizations was interesting and beneficial. The skills learned in the program were helpful while I served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army and will be especially beneficial in positions outside the military.
