Some Of Our Students Say....

I chose the program at UNC because it was neither too expensive, nor inconvenient. In fact, convenience was probably the deciding factor in my decision. Those who developed this program did not sacrifice quality for convenience. The overall quality of this program is appropriate, at the same time challenging. It definitely meets the needs of today's RNs. I want to comment on the instructors. It is difficult to teach 30 students in a lecture hall.  Now, take those 30 students and scatter them all over the state (and Florida). One can imagine the possible difficulties. Communication, program content, program design, and presentation are but a few of the possible obstacles. The instructors in this program have obviously gone to great lengths to overcome theses hurdles. My questions are answered promptly, my papers and test are graded in a timely manner, and I have never felt like I was ‘out of the loop'. Their time and dedication is what truly will make this program great. In conclusion, I could not ask for more in any RN to BSN program. It is exactly what I needed at just the right time.

As a single parent, working full-time and part-time to make ends meet, the flexibility of the online classes has been important to me because it allows me to spend quality time with my child.  He loves it when we sit together at the table, and he does his homework and I do mine!  My employer has been very supportive of my schooling and has allowed me to use a computer and access the Internet from work at night and on the weekends.  Most people considered me organized in the past, but this online program has polished my organizational skills, has taught me planning and time management, and has made me stronger and more confident in myself.  Getting my degree will give me more choices in the future.

Students generally like online courses.  Online courses are convenient, even if there is a lot of work involved in them… .  As a faculty member, I enjoy online teaching….  As I plan my teaching for online courses, the planning makes me more aware of my teaching.   I find myself planning more activities and since online courses are continually changing, I am constantly learning as well.

I am a first-year lateral-entry teacher and the opportunity to take all my licensure courses online was too good to pass up.  The online courses were very convenient for me and I like being able to work ahead in my classes.  The coursework is appropriate and useful and pertains to what I am doing in the classroom.  This is a great program and I appreciate all of the support I've been given.

I am a firefighter by trade and nature.  I finished my associate degree in traditional classrooms, having to drive more than 100 miles for each day of class.  There were no B.S. programs anywhere around, especially in fire.  The online program made it possible for me to take classes without all of the driving, and the wasted time and money associated with the driving.  It would have been very difficult to complete a degree without this program, and the degree would not have been in the fire field.  The program has helped me come to terms with new teaching methods, and in fact I am starting my first class online as an instructor tonight.

I have enjoyed taking online classes because of the flexibility that it allows in my schedule.  Instead of being in a classroom at a designated time, I can work in the comfort of my room.  Online classes show academic progress and grades assignments in a timely fashion.

I chose the BSET Electrical Distance Education program instead of a campus-based program because of the convenience it provides.  I would not have been able to attend on-campus classes because of my work schedule and distance from the university.  I am a senior citizen who re-entered the workforce after retirement from the postal service.  While with the postal service, I worked with mail processing equipment and have always wanted to delve deeper into electronics.  The DE program has provided me with the opportunity to do so.  I am now employed with Underwriters Laboratories and I test new products for electrical and fire safety.  My employer has been very supportive of my school work and frequently inquires about my progress.

Whether or not my words show it, this program truly is a blessing. So here goes....The East Carolina Technical and Professional Communication On-line Master's Degree Program has afforded me a unique opportunity to achieve my academic goals while still being able to maintain my full-time job and continue to be home for my two small children. Prior to participating in this program, I struggled to find a way to juggle all of my responsibilities and also further my education. Although I only live an hour away from the campus, I was limited to taking night classes. With the TPC On-line Program, I have the luxury of doing my course work when it fits in with my hectic schedule, and I also have a wider variety of courses from which to choose. The East Carolina Technical and Professional Communication program has opened up a pathway to a master's degree that I might otherwise have struggled to achieve in a traditional setting.

ECU's master's program offered via distance learning courses literally changed my life. Being a single parent holding down two jobs, I never would have been able to earn my MA without the program. More importantly, I honestly believe I received a better education than I would have with face-to-face classes. Since most online "classroom" communication is done in writing, I was forced to read and thoroughly understand the material I was learning. After all, you can't bluff your way through written discussion the way you can in regular class discussions! The instructors were always available to assist me with any questions or problems I was having. Their creativity in presenting the material was impressive. Since graduating from the program, I've begun teaching at a local community college where I've been able to use everything I learned – including how to utilize online course materials.

The online program empowered me as a learner. I was finally able to learn in a way that was more suitable to my learning style. The structure of the program I chose to complete allowed me to be pro-active in designing my projects making learning more than an event of memorization for passing the test but a lifetime of experiences, relationships, files and bookmarks that have proven to be helpful in my day-to-day work.

I could not have been more pleased with this program.  Everyone was helpful and professional.  The content was pertinent and challenging.  I found the discussion groups quite wonderful.  The online discussions actually offered me more contact with fellow students than a classroom situation has in the past.  I highly recommend the program to other registered nurses working towards their BSN.
