Close Alert

As organizations evolve over time, goals and priorities change and new initiatives and new directions arise. Existing initiatives must be carefully evaluated for alignment and effectiveness. After just such an evaluation, the UNC System Office has made the very difficult decision to retire UNC Online. This means the following for UNC Online:

  • UNC Online is now closed to all new course registrations. (Language Exchange and EMAoL courses excepted; see below.)
  • UNC Online has been converted into a site that solely hosts Language Exchange courses. Students can continue to register for Language Exchange and EMAoL courses.

We apologize for the news and for any inconvenience this may cause.

Language Exchange/EMAoL Exchange

The Language Exchange and EMAoL Exchange are collaborations among universities in the UNC System to expand the number and diversity of online courses available to students. Each exchange represents a different discipline, providing students with access to many complementary options to meet their needs and interests.

EMAoL Elementary Mathematics Add-on Licensure

Successful completion of the courses in the Elementary Mathematics Add-On Licensure program leads to add-on mathematics licensure at the elementary level (approved by the NC State Board of Education in 2009). Each of the six courses in the program is distinguished by a focus on a high-leverage teaching practice, a primary area of mathematics necessary for successfully teaching elementary school mathematics and a secondary area of mathematical content.
