Introduces learners to gaming and esports fundamentals, including the history, current state, and future of the sport. Learners will explore and evaluate current leagues and games in both collegiate and professional esports leagues, qualities of a game that makes it viable for competition, describe how esports can generate revenue, use research and data to detect current and future trends in the sport, the relationship of gaming and esports to education, ethics and critical literacy issues in gaming environments, and be introduced to the technology used in competition.
